Все новости от 14 декабря 1999 г. Orky general director and manager sentenced for software crime
The Russian office of Microsoft and BSA have announced the completion of a lawsuit against the computer club Orky for its use of unlicensed software. In June this year the department for combating economic crime of the Moscow police held a raid and discovered that the club installed unlicensed copies of MS Windows 95 and 98 on its 100 computers. The estimated damage amounted to $10,000. Later Microsoft and Orky signed an amicable agreement which called for the club to purchase licenses for all its software. However, in spite of the agreement, the authorities started a criminal case against the club's general director Maxim Gudinov and manager Pavel Zatulviter. Late last month the Moscow municipal court sentenced each of them to one year in prison with a suspended sentence.
