Все новости от 23 ноября 2001 г. Rostelecom to launch IP telephony network in Moscow next quarter
Rostelecom has announced that it will put into operation the Moscow segment of its IP telephony network by the end of Q1 2002. The network is based on Cisco Systems equipment, including IP telephony gateways AS5300 and Cisco 2912 switches. The network will utilize IP telephony software developed by the American company NetCentrex. By the end of next year, Rostelecom plans to begin nationwide operation of the network. During 2003, the operator plans to work on the expansion of service range and the network capacity. At the moment, Rostelecom has no plans to create a subsidiary to offer IP telephony services, as it did with the provision of Internet access. However, the decision is not final and it depends on the position of the Russian Ministry for Antimonopoly Policy, which can determine tariffs on Rostelecom services.
